Tadawul Review:

The Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) inched up on Tuesday, gaining 11 points (+0.1%) to close at 11,434. The index opened slightly higher, up 6 points from the previous close, and fluctuated between gains and losses throughout the session before settling in positive territory. The day’s trading range spanned from -27 to +58 points. 13 out of 21 sectors ended in the green, with 152 stocks declining and only 83 advancing. The Banks (0.6%), Energy (0.3%), and Food and Beverages (0.4%) sectors were the biggest drags on the index. Key contributors to the rise included Al Rajhi Bank (0.9%), Aramco (0.3%), and Saudi National Bank (0.9%). Trading activity slowed, with volume dropping -16% to 222 million shares and value down -12% to SAR 4.5 billion.

 

Market Wrap International:

U.S. stocks fell on Tuesday as investors adopted a cautious stance ahead of the Federal Reserve’s policy decision, while President Donald Trump’s mixed trade comments failed to calm market nerves. The downbeat mood was reflected in sector performance, with Health Care leading losses at -2.76%, followed by Software & Services down 1.07%, and both Industrials and Consumer Discretionary declining 0.85%. The S&P 500 fell by -0.8%, the Dow Jones Industrial Average dropped by -0.9%, and the NASDAQ declined by -0.9%.

European markets ended down on Tuesday as investors digested political developments and trade tensions. Broader sentiment remained cautious, with uncertainty mounting as the European Union weighed potential tariffs on the United States. The STOXX 600 declined -0.2%, DAX fell -0.4%, France’s CAC 40 posted losses of -0.4%, while FTSE 100 had a modest gain of  0.01%.

Asian markets traded mostly higher on Tuesday, lifted by easing trade concerns after U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent signaled progress with several partners and potential movement with China. Markets in Japan and South Korea remained closed for holidays. SHCOMP climbed by 1.1% and Hang Seng advanced by 0.7%.
