Tadawul Review:
Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Tuesday, losing 52 points (-0.44%) to close at the 11,736 level. The index opened 10 points higher than the previous closing level, then the index faced fluctuation, and started to gradually decline throughout the end of the session. In general, 16 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, and 179 shares fell while 54 rose. Energy (-1.8%), Real Estate (-1.8%), and Utilities (-0.8%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, Aramco (-1.8%), ACWA Power (-1.2%), and Dar Al Arkan (-4.2%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a huge decrease in volume by -43% and in value by -58.1%, to reach 363Mn shares and SAR5.15bn in value traded.
Stocks rose on Tuesday, with the S&P 500 and Dow Jones Industrial Average reaching new peaks, as market participants dismissed concerns over potential tariffs from President-elect Donald Trump. The Nasdaq Composite and the S&P 500 both rose by 0.6%, while the Dow Jones Industrial gained 0.3%.
In Europe, stocks declined as investors assessed the possible repercussions of U.S. President-elect Donald Trump's plans to increase tariffs on China, Mexico, and Canada. The CAC 40 slid by -0.9%, the DAX and Euro STOXX 600 each dropped by -0.6%, and the FTSE 100 fell by -0.4%.
Asian markets saw losses on Tuesday, while the dollar strengthened after Trump warned that he would impose significant new tariffs on China, Mexico, and Canada from his first day in office, dampening hopes for a more moderate trade policy. The Hang Seng rose by 0.04%. In contrast, the KOSPI fell by -0.6%, the SHCOMP experienced a decline of -0.1%, the NIKKEI 225 posted a decrease of -0.9%.
