Tadawul Review:

Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Tuesday, dropping by 59 points (-0.5%) to close at 12,048. TASI started the session with a negative note, opening 2 points lower than the previous close. The index briefly recovered during the first 15 minutes but then declined gradually closing at its lowest point of the day. Overall, 18 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, while 152 shares fell and 70 rose. Banks (-0.8%), Real Estate (-‎‎2.1%), and Retailing (-2.1%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, Al Rajhi Bank (-1.1%), Alinma Bank (-2.3%), and Saudi Telecom (-1.7%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a decrease in volume and value of -49% and -23%, respectively, to reach 478mn shares and SAR5.7bn in value traded.

 

 

Market Wrap International: 

U.S. stock index futures pulled back on Tuesday, in anticipation of the week’s important inflation data, after Wall Street hit a series of all-time highs thanks to optimism over Donald Trump’s election victory. The Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped by -0.9%, the S&P 500 dipped by -0.3%, and the Nasdaq Composite eased by -0.1%.

As U.S. President-elect Donald Trump prepares to return to the White House, European markets fell on Tuesday as investors evaluated the potential impact on the region's economy. The CAC 40 slid by -2.7%, the DAX dropped by -2.1%, the Euro STOXX 600 declined by -2%, and the FTSE 100 edged lower by -1.2%.

Concerns over a possible U.S.-China trade war under Donald Trump, combined with disappointment over Beijing’s decision not to introduce new measures to boost its sluggish economy, led to a sharp decline in Asian markets on Tuesday. The Hang Seng dropped by -2.8%, the KOSPI declined by -1.9%, the SHCOMP fell by -1.4%, and the NIKKEI 225 edged down by -0.4%.
