Market Wrap International:

U.S. stocks sank sharply as renewed U.S.–China trade tensions and a tech-led selloff hit sentiment, with investors wary of slowing global growth and Fed policy uncertainty. Semiconductor and growth names led declines after Washington signaled possible new restrictions on Chinese chip exports, adding to risk aversion across sectors. The S&P 500 fell –2.7%, the Dow –1.9%, and the Nasdaq –3.6%.

European markets mirrored Wall Street’s slide as geopolitical jitters and sticky inflation dampened risk appetite. Energy and industrials underperformed, while defensive sectors offered limited relief. The FTSE 100 dropped –0.9%, the DAX –1.5%, the CAC –1.5%, and the Euro Stoxx 600 –1.3%.

Asian trading was mixed amid cautious sentiment following the global pullback. The Shanghai Composite slipped –0.9%, the Nikkei 225 –1.0%, and the Hang Seng –1.7% as weak external demand and tech softness weighed, while the Kospi rose +1.7% on strong chip and export momentum.
