Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) fell on Monday, losing -16 points (-0.1%) to close at the 12,053 level. The pened 27 points higher than the previous closing level, then the index faced selling pressure, and started to gradually decline throughout the end of the session. In general, 11 out of 21 sectors closed in the red zone, and 111 shares fell while 106 rose. Banks (-0.5%), Health care equipment and services (-1.3%), and Insurance (-0.9%) sectors contributed the most to the index fall. Stockwise, Saudi National Bank (-2.0%), Sulaiman Al Habib (-1.8%), and Alinma Bank (-1.4%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a huge decrease in volume by -36% and a decrease in value by -1%, to reach 585Mn shares and SAR5.42bn in value traded.
Global equities soared on Monday, kicking off a week packed with earnings reports from Wall Street's "Magnificent Seven." The yen weakened following a Japanese election that plunged the country into political instability. In the U.S. markets, the S&P 500 advanced by 0.3%, the Nasdaq Composite rose by 0.3 %, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average increased by 0.6%.
In Europe, stocks experienced slight gains as investors braced for key economic data and earnings from major U.S. companies. The CAC 40 advanced by 0.8%, DAX increased by 0.3%, and the FTSE 100 rose by 0.4%, indicating a generally positive trend across European markets.
Asian markets also reacted to the political turmoil in Japan, with posative results. The Hang Seng up by 0.04%, the NIKKEI 225 increased by 1.8%, and the KOSPI increased by 1.1%.
