Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) rose on Tuesday, gaining 18 points (+0.2%) to close at 11,886 level. The index began unchanged from the previous close but then experienced a decline during the first 20 minutes before starting to rise gradually until the end of the session. In general, 17 out of 21 sectors closed in the green zone, and 131 shares rose while 97 fell. Materials (+1.2%), Utilities (+1.1%), and Real Estate (+0.9%) sectors contributed the most to the index rise. Stockwise, Maaden (+6.6%), ACWA Power (+1.6%), and Saudi National Bank (+0.6%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed a decrease in volume by -20% to reach 432mn while the value increased by 5% to reach SAR5.7bn value traded.
On Tuesday, the S&P 500 ended the day nearly unchanged after reaching an all-time high, as investors eagerly anticipated the Federal Reserve's imminent interest rate cut announcement. The S&P 500 edged up by 0.03%, the Nasdaq Composite gained 0.2%, while the Dow Jones Industrial Average slipped by -0.04%.
In Europe, the STOXX 600 closed at its highest level in two weeks, buoyed by optimistic sentiment surrounding the potential for a significant interest rate cut by the U.S. Federal Reserve later this week. European indices displayed mixed results on Tuesday: the CAC 40 and DAX both advanced by 0.5%, while the Euro STOXX index climbed by 0.4%.
Meanwhile, Asian markets experienced varied outcomes as investors awaited the Fed's interest rate decision, which is widely expected to be substantial. The Hang Seng index rose by 1.4%, contrasting with a -1% drop in the NIKKEI 225, while the KOSPI closed flat on the day.
