Market Wrap International:

U.S. equities posted moderate gains as strength in technology and easing Treasury yields helped offset the impact of the government shutdown, which is expected to delay key economic data releases. Safe-haven demand pushed gold to new record highs. The S&P 500 advanced 0.4%, the Dow Jones rose 0.2%, and the Nasdaq gained 0.3%.

European markets ended higher, supported by softer inflation data and resilience in consumer and financial shares, though concerns over fiscal policy and growth prospects limited momentum. The FTSE 100 added 0.5%, the DAX rose 0.6%, the CAC gained 0.2%, and the Euro Stoxx 600 increased 0.5%.

Asian trading was mixed, with Chinese and Hong Kong benchmarks supported by liquidity measures, while Japan and South Korea underperformed on weak manufacturing data and semiconductor pressure. The SHCOMP rose 0.5% and the Hang Seng advanced 0.9%, while the Kospi and Nikkei 225 each declined -0.2%.
