Tadawul Review:

The Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) declined on Monday, dropping -91 points (-0.8%) to close at 11,746. The index opened 32 points higher than the previous close but saw fluctuating volatility mid-session, ultimately trending lower by the close. Overall, 19 out of 20 sectors ended in the red, with 192 stocks declining and 52 advancing. The Materials (-1.5%), Utilities (-2.7%), and Healthcare (-3.1%) sectors were the largest contributors to the decline. Among individual stocks, Aramco (-1.3%), ACWA Power (-3.1%), and Maaden (-‎‎5.5%) experienced the steepest losses. Trading activity saw a 37% surge in volume, with 259 million shares traded, and a 35% increase in value, totaling SAR ‎‎5.3 billion.

 

 

Market Wrap International:

U.S. stocks tumbled on Monday, marking the worst trading session of 2025 as trade tensions escalated and recession fears gripped investors. The S&P 500 plunged -2.7% after President Donald Trump declined to rule out economic fallout from his aggressive tariff policies. Sentiment was further rattled by Ontario’s decision to impose retaliatory surcharges on energy exports to key U.S. states and China’s latest round of tariffs on American agricultural goods. In the S&P 500, information technology led declines with a 4.34% drop, followed by consumer discretionary at -3.9% and communication services at -3.54%. The Nasdaq fell by -4.0%, and the Dow Jones Industrial Average declined by -2.1%.

European stocks closed sharply lower Monday as tech shares led a global sell-off amid escalating U.S. tariff uncertainty and weak economic data from the U.S. and China. The CAC 40 declined by -0.9%, the DAX dropped -1.7%, the Euro STOXX 600 dipped by -1.3%, and the FTSE 100 fell by -0.9%.

Asian markets ended mixed on Monday as investors remained cautious over U.S. tariff uncertainty, with Chinese stocks leading losses while Japan and South Korea posted modest gains. The Hang Seng fell by -1.8%, and the SHCOMP decreased by -0.2%, while the Nikkei 225 advanced 0.4%, and the KOSPI gained by 0.3%.
