Tadawul All Share Index (TASI) rose on Monday, gaining 205 points (+1.8%) to close at 11,434. The index opened slightly above its previous close and continued to climb gradually until the end of the session. Overall, 20 out of 21 sectors closed in the green zone, and 205 shares rose while 46 fell. Banks (+2.4%), Energy (+2.2%), and Materials (+2.2%) sectors contributed the most to the index rise. Stockwise, Al Rajhi Bank (+3.7%), Aramco (+2.2%), and Maaden (+3.6%) were the major contributors. The trading activity witnessed an increase in volume and value of 37% and 63%, respectively, to reach 351mn shares and SAR7.9bn in value traded.
Market Wrap International:
U.S. stocks edged higher as tech gains and easing yields offset concerns over a looming government shutdown, with gold hitting record highs. The S&P 500 rose 0.3%, the Dow Jones added 0.1%, and the Nasdaq gained 0.5%.
European markets saw small advances, supported by Spain’s credit rating upgrades and broader positive sentiment, though inflation and tariff risks remained in focus. The FTSE 100 rose 0.2%, the DAX 0.02%, the CAC 0.1%, and the Euro Stoxx 600 0.2%.
Asian equities were stronger, led by Hong Kong and China after Zijin Gold’s IPO surge, while South Korea gained on semiconductor strength. Shutdown worries and weak Japanese output capped sentiment. The SHCOMP climbed 0.9%, the Kospi 1.3%, the Hang Seng 1.9%, and the Nikkei 225 fell 0.7%.
